Goodness in Dirty Dishes

For the past few weeks, I’ve been washing dishes, glasswares and utensils.    The Christmas month has been a time of celebrating the life and works of the Lord Jesus over bountiful meals.

As every fellowship comes to an end, I get to reflect various times during 2015. This happens not over a cup of coffee, but over a stack of dirty dishes in the kitchen sink.

Before, dirty dishes equate to an extra chore. Now, washing these bring me to a place of humility and gratefulness. Dirty dishes reflect God’s goodness. Throughout the year, He has provided food on our plate and enabled my wife and I to enjoy eating as well. They also reminded us of God’s reliability to provide for our needs, and most especially, the grace to also bless other people. Every meal set also afforded us to share the kindness of the Lord, where many bonding time ends in glorifying Him.

More than being fed physically, I’m also pointed to the daily provision of eating spiritual food. His word was a daily staple to my spirit. I testify to you that Jesus is truly the Bread of life. He speaks when we seek Him with all of our hearts. The Holy Spirit revealed the heart of God. I cannot imagine living this life without God speaking to me. Abiding in His presence nourished my being. Everyday, He was there to feed me and quench my thirst. He also given me wisdom to lead my wife, and continuously transform me to become a better person. This says so much about Him.

As the last dish is about to be rinsed, I knew that the next season will be another time of God’s goodness and faithfulness.  The coming year would reveal another wonderful facet of the Father in Heaven whose Hand has been holding me.

Thank you Lord that You’ve shown yourself through your goodness and faithfulness. More than the blessings and the provision, the dirty dishes show me the beauty and wonder of who You are. Thank you for your unfailing love. Be glorified forever!

Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the LORD forever. Psalm 23:6 NLT

To the one reading this, I pray that you’ll also get a personal encounter and revelation of the Lord Jesus Christ. May you feel His comforting presence and hear his voice in your life. God bless you.
