I had a great time listening in yesterday’s message about how dependent a Christian is to walk and live by the Holy Spirit. One of the things that caught my attention was how the bible defined WAITING on certain passages.
Waiting was defined as to remain or to abide near or around. The picture of this is like of a food attendant who is waiting and alert for the customer’s preference. Another definition is about being intertwined so close that it’s a picture of hearing one’s heartbeat.
To wait on the God is to make sure that we’re always positioned in a very close proximity to hear from him, to readily anticipate His still small voice so as not to miss it. To wait on God is the desire and move towards His heart, to hear every beat and be ready for His move. To wait on God is faithfully doing our spiritual disciplines and pursuing His will. To wait on God is to deepen that intimate relationship with Him.
The Lord is very near. So close.
Wait for the LORD; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the LORD! Psalm 27:14
